Below, we have compiled the most common questions parents ask when choosing a primary school.
General & Enrolment Who can enrol at OLR Kenmore? OLR Kenmore is a community that welcomes families from all backgrounds, regardless of their faith or religious affiliation. While we are a Catholic school, our doors are open to any family who shares our commitment to striving for academic excellence while fostering a culture of kindness and respect.
- Is it local-only? No, we welcome families from Kenmore, Brookfield, Chapel Hill and surrounding Brisbane suburbs.
- Do I have to be Catholic? No. We value diversity and welcome any family seeking a high-quality, values-based education.

We recommend enrolling your child as early as possible, ideally by the start of the year preceding their start date (e.g., Term 1 of the year before Prep). In Queensland, children must turn 5 by June 30 in the year they start. Check your start year here:

How is technology used in the classroom? Every student from Prep to Year 6 has 1:1 access to an iPad.
- Junior years: Focus on creative discovery and literacy support.
- Senior years: Focus on research, coding, and responsible digital citizenship.
What specialist subjects are offered? Students attend weekly lessons with specialist teachers for Physical Education (PE), Music, Visual Arts, STEM, and Library & Information Literacy.
Student Wellbeing & Community How do you handle bullying and behaviour? At Our Lady of the Rosary, we use the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) framework to create a safe and supportive environment for all students. Our approach is centred on the Be a STAR at OLR behaviour matrix, which aligns with our core values of respect, care, and service.
The STAR Matrix defines our four core expectations:
- S – Stay focused on learning: Engaging fully in the classroom.
- T – Take responsibility: Owning our actions and being organised.
- A – Act with care: Showing kindness and moving safely around the school.
- R – Respect and encourage all: Using positive language and supporting peers.
We utilise Restorative Practices to resolve conflicts, focusing on repairing relationships and building empathy rather than just punishment.
Daily Life & Facilities Does OLR have a swimming pool? Yes, we have an on-site swimming pool. Intensive swimming blocks are held in Terms 1 and 4 as part of the PE curriculum, meaning no travel time or extra bus costs for parents.
