Technology & Digital Learning at OLR
We believe that strong digital literacy is essential for success in today’s world. Our Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) program is designed to help students confidently use technology to learn, communicate, solve problems, and stay safe online.
Aligned with the Australian Curriculum, our technology program is embedded into everyday learning across all year levels.
Students participate in weekly Digital Technology lessons and use devices and apps as part of their classroom learning in subjects like English, Maths, Science, and the Arts.
1-to-1 iPads
Students in Years 4, 5, and 6 receive a personal iPad, supplied and managed by the school.
- Devices are used for collaborative and independent learning
- Students take their iPads home each day
- Year 4 students complete an 'iPad Boot Camp' to learn safe and responsible use before taking devices home
This program ensures students build confidence in using digital tools for research, creativity, and communication.
Digital Citizenship and Cyber Safety
We teach students how to use technology responsibly and respectfully.
Our digital citizenship program helps students develop:
- Safe online habits
- Positive attitudes toward technology
- Awareness of privacy and cyber safety
We also partner with families by offering Cyber Safety workshops for parents, staff, and students—because online safety is a shared responsibility.
Acceptable use of ICT at OLR
All students and parents must read and sign our Acceptable Use Policy each year and upon enrolment.
This ensures everyone understands their responsibilities when using school-provided technology.
