Religious Education

Religious Education is more than a subject; it’s a journey of faith, understanding, and personal growth. Rooted in the Brisbane Catholic Education Guidelines, our Religious Education program helps students explore the richness of Catholic tradition while connecting it meaningfully to their everyday lives.

Each semester, our teachers collaborate with the Assistant Principal Religious Education (APRE) to plan learning experiences that reflect the values of our Christ-centred community. Students engage in a minimum of 2.5 hours of Religious Education per week, amounting to approximately 92–100 hours per year, ensuring a consistent and deep engagement with faith-based learning.

Four Strands of Learning

The Religion Curriculum is built around four interconnected strands that guide students in both knowledge and spiritual development:
  • Sacred Texts – Students explore the Old and New Testaments, learning about the authors, audiences, and messages within Scripture, and how these teachings apply to modern life.
  • Beliefs – Students discover the significance of Christian and Catholic beliefs, reflecting on their relevance in today’s world.
  • Church – Students participate in prayer, liturgy, and rituals, and gain a deeper understanding of the Sacraments of Initiation and the life of the Church.
  • Christian Life – Students develop moral reasoning and ethical understanding, using the Bible as a guide to living with compassion, integrity, and purpose.
Through this balanced and integrated approach, our Religious Education program nurtures not only knowledge but also character—helping students grow into thoughtful, faith-filled individuals who live with kindness and conviction.
