Curriculum updates

Our Year 6 students have been exploring the exciting world of electricity as part of their Science learning, investigating how electrical circuits work and how energy can be transferred to power everyday devices.

After developing their understanding of circuit components such as batteries, wires and globes, students took part in a hands-on design challenge to apply their knowledge in a real-world context. Working collaboratively in teams, they were tasked with designing and creating their own functioning torch.

The challenge encouraged students to think critically, problem-solve and test different ideas as they worked through the design process. Using trial and error, teams identified and resolved issues within their circuits, demonstrating perseverance and creativity along the way.

The classroom was buzzing with excitement as students saw their torches light up for the first time. The project showcased not only their growing understanding of electrical energy and circuits, but also the value of teamwork, communication and innovative thinking.

Experiences like these bring Science to life, helping students deepen their understanding through hands-on learning while developing the skills needed to tackle future challenges with confidence.
