From coding and design challenges to engineering projects and digital creation, students at Our Lady of the Rosary are embracing exciting opportunities to explore STEM and technology in meaningful ways.
Throughout the year, students have engaged in a wide range of experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and problem-solving. Students have entered local and regional competitions, showcased projects at the Ekka, participated in gaming competitions and taken part in STEM MAD initiatives, both at a school level and through Brisbane Catholic Education.
These opportunities allow students to apply their learning in real-world contexts while developing confidence, resilience and teamwork skills.
Beyond the classroom, OLR's lunchtime STEM clubs have become a popular way for students to further explore their interests. Whether experimenting with new technologies, tackling design challenges or collaborating with peers, students are discovering new ways to think, create and innovate.
Principal Paul Rees said STEM learning at OLR is about more than technology.
"We want our students to be curious, creative thinkers who are prepared to take on challenges and make a positive difference in the world around them," Mr Rees said.
"Through STEM and technology, students are developing valuable skills that will support them throughout their education and beyond."
Technology Teacher Robert Smith recently produced a Semester 1 showcase video celebrating the many ways students are engaging with STEM and technology across the school. The video highlights the enthusiasm, creativity and innovation that continue to grow within OLR's learning community.
