Solar Buddies

Recently our Year 6 students engaged in a Solar Buddies Project with members of the Kenmore/Moggill Rotary Club.

Under the guidance of Kenmore Rotary members, the students built solar powered night lights to enable students in Papua New Guinea the opportunity to study at night.  This was an wonderful learning experience for our children, combining science and technology learning with social justice awareness.  Kenmore Rotorary contributed half the funds for the project, with the other half raised by the Year 6 students by selling raffle tickets. The raffle prizes were donated by Dr Christian Rowan, MP, Cr Greg Adermann and also the OLR Lewis family.

Seeing our wonderful community working together to make a significant difference to those who have much less than we have is always heartwarming.
