Swimming Pool

About the Pool

The pool has long been a focal point of the summer season at OLR.  Father Tom Carroll, the first Parish Priest at OLR, orchestrated the construction of the pool, which came into use in 1964. Swimming became a part of the PE program from the start.  Success in swimming has always been a feature of the OLR program.  Focus is on teaching the skills and water safety which leads to a high level of competence in the water and success in representative competitions.  These days the pool is heated.

School Swimming

OLR students attend weekly swimming lessons during Terms 1 and 4.  Prep children started swimming in Term 4.  All lessons are run by a qualified physical education teacher.

A school swimming carnival for students in Year 1 - 6 is held annually.  From this competition children are selected to represent the school at the Zone Swimming Carnival.
