Parents And Friends Advisory Group

Our Parents and Friends Advisory Group (PFG) is a dynamic network of parents and carers who actively support the school’s mission, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities for families to engage, celebrate, and grow together. It's a cornerstone of OLR's welcoming and connected community.

What does the Parents and Friends Advisory Group do?

The PFG is highly active in the school, offering a strong parent voice and working in partnership with the Principal. The PFG executive meets regularly with the Principal, and general meetings are held once per term, with minutes available on the Parent Portal..

Events & Community Building

The PFG coordinates a calendar of events that brings families together in fun and meaningful ways. From social occasions like Trivia Night, Mum’s Night Out, Father’s Group activities, and the School Disco, to welcoming gatherings like the Welcome BBQ, the group helps foster friendships and a strong sense of belonging. The PFG also assists with hospitality at school events, ensuring every celebration feels warm and inclusive.

Fundraising with Purpose

While fundraising is not the sole focus of the PFG, it plays a vital role in supporting targeted school projects. In 2025 alone, PFG efforts contributed to:

  • New sports equipment
  • New books for our reading scheme
  • An upgraded audio system in the school hall
  • A significant contribution to the playground upgrade.

These initiatives directly enhance the learning and play experiences of our students, thanks to the generosity and involvement of our parent community.

Get Involved

All OLR parents are automatically members of the PFG community and are encouraged to participate in ways that suit their interests and availability. Whether you’re helping at an event, joining a meeting, or simply connecting over coffee, your presence makes a difference.

To volunteer, parents must complete Brisbane Catholic Education's (BCE) Online Volunteer Training annually. The course takes approximately 20–30 minutes and must be renewed each year. Please forward your certificate of completion to the OLR Office.
