Enrolment for Prep 2020 / 2021

The Australian school year begins late January.

Children born between 1 July 2013 - 30 June 2014 are eligible for Prep in 2019.

Children born between 1 July 2014 - 30 June 2015 are eligible for Prep in 2020.

Children born between 1 July 2015 - 30 June 2016 are eligible for Prep in 2021.

Children born between 1 July 2016 - 30 June 2017 are eligible for Prep in 2022.

Children born between 1 July 2017 - 30 June 2018 are eligible for Prep in 2023.

Children must be 5 years old by 30 June in the year they enrol. Prep is the first year of compulsory schooling (from 2017) in Queensland and it is expected that Prep students attend full-time.  You can delay their entry by one year if you feel they are not ready, but when they start school, they should still start in the Prep year.

Birth / Baptismal Certificates / Visa

Enrolments for all children enrolling for the first time at OLR cannot be confirmed until documentary evidence of a child's date of birth has been submitted. A birth certificate or extract is required. A copy of the child's Baptismal Certificate and Australian visa are also required (if applicable).

 Enrolment Policy

Our enrolment policy has been formulated in keeping with the mission and purpose of a Parish Catholic school and current position in relation to buildings, facilities, resources and staffing. OLR is a large Archdiocesan primary school with an enrolment in 2020 of just over 430 pupils in Prep-Year 6.

The population of the Western Suburbs is growing rapidly and there continues to be a strong demand for enrolments at OLR.

Our initial point for enrolment is Prep, which is offered on a full-time basis.

Children will not be excluded from OLR for financial reasons, related to the inability of the family to pay fees. Such commitment from the school is conditional upon the family adhering to the terms of the school fee remission process managed by the school. The process is characterised by justice and equity for all and pastoral care for the family in need. It is an expectation that all families make some contribution towards fees.

The enrolment of students with special needs will be considered in accordance with Brisbane Catholic Education's Policy on Enrolment and Support Procedures for Students with Special Needs. This policy takes into account, and is in accordance with, Brisbane Catholic Education Administration Guidelines on the Enrolment of Students.

Overseas Students

The school does not maintain registration for the enrolment of full fee paying overseas students. Refer to the Brisbane Catholic Education site for a list of schools which enrol these students.

Prep Readiness Program

OLR runs a Prep Readiness Program for children commencing their first year of school. The Program is to ease children into a larger, independent learning environment with the support of key staff. The successful Program is  run in the second half each year.

This year's course is for children start Prep in 2021.  The course is open to any child who will commence Prep in 2021, not just OLR students.  The course is run near the end of each year.  Details will be available in the second half of this year.

If you have any questions about the school or enrolment, call the school office on 3378 2412 and speak to Rita or Dee.
