OLR TUCK SHOP
A new menu for 2017 will go on display in January 2017.
THE TUCK SHOP IS NOT OPEN DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF TERM 1, 2017.
The tuck shop has a long tradition in Australian schools. It provides an opportunity for education in the use and value of money, in nutrition and in service to others. Our Lady of the Rosary Parents and Friends Association supports the tuck shop by providing a paid convener who coordinates the operation.
The aims of the tuckshop are:
to improve the nutritional quality of our tuckshop lunches
to encourage children to make nutritious choices when buying their food
to provide a safe shopping experience
to be a fundraiser with profits benefiting the children
The tuck shop operates two days per week:, Wednesdays and Fridays. Preschool children are provided with the opportunity to purchase food from Term 3.
Parents can order food by either the bag system, which is handed into to tuck shop in the morning or by creating an on-line account.
The bag system requires that the child's name, class and order to be written on a paper bag. Money for the order is placed in the bag, which is then placed in the tuckshop box in the classroom.
Online Ordering System for all tuck shop orders is available
Log on to http://www.ouronlinecanteen.com.au and set up your account. This is a simple and quick alternative to order. Pre-ordering for future weeks is possible. Last minute orders must be in by 8 am on tuck shops days.
The P & F Association is a member of Nutrition Australia and implements its policies to encourage healthier choices on the tuckshop menu. Yearly feedback for comments and additions to the menu is sought from parents, students and staff.
The tuck shop depends on volunteer helpers for its success. All parents are encouraged to contribute in some way to this activity. This can be done by:
Assisting in the tuck shop once a month (or term), preparing and serve morning tea and lunch.
Volunteering for monthly patty cake roster by baking cakes, muffins, slices, etc.
Donating requested brown paper bags, food preparation gloves - watch the newsletter for requests.
